With groundbreaking technology, a new and distinguishing name, and parent company Effee’s team and expertise behind it, Recuro is ready to be an accelerator in the work of creating more circular value chains for plastics.

“Recuro” combines the Latin words “curo”, meaning to recover, and “re”, signifying a change in the state of things. The combined form means to restore something to its original condition. The name Recuro describes what we do – reshape the way waste is handled, restore value to plastic resources, and provide a cure to a pressing environmental concern.

Circular Accelerator

Recuro utilises pyrolysis to chemically recycle plastics that would otherwise end up in landfill or be incinerated. Pyrolysis is a decomposition process that employs heat to break down plastic waste into carbon, pyrolysis-oil, and gas. The pyrolysis oil yielded by the process can be refined and serve as feedstock in the production of new, recycled plastic products.

Recycling with induction

Recuro will also carry forward a solid heritage from Effee Induction. When Effee Energy was founded in 2022, it was based on a business concept for applying induction-based pyrolysis to the chemical recycling of plastic.

This paved way for a collaboration with pyrolysis technology suppliers, which is joining forces with Recuro for continued development of the technology and the construction of full-scale plants for chemical recycling with induction-heated pyrolysis. The first recycling plant in Norway is set to be in operation by 2025.
